Even if you prepare so well, it happens that you forget partially what you studied while appearing for the exam. Many a times, you face problems in learning a topic and retaining it. Remembering power is crucial for development. Here are the ways by which you can train your brain and improve memory:

  1. EXERCISE DAILY

Exercising daily at least for an hour or two can have profound impact on mental health.

Exercising is not only about muscle size or a good physique but has a positive impact on mental health . It makes you feel energetic throughout day, makes you feel relaxed, gives you a good sleep pattern and makes you feel positive about your life. Exercising also improves the learning capacity and concentration power as it adds new brain cells and prevents age related decline.

  1. GET YOUR VITAMIN D LEVEL TESTED

Vitamin D is an important micronutrient that helps in bone growth and helps in fulfilling Calcium requirement. It not only plays role in skeletal development but also helps in fulfilling neuro developmental functions. Receptors of vitamin D are found throughout the brain and helps in memorizing function .Thus every individual should get its vitamin D level tested at a laboratory on a monthly basis and should go for good sources of vitamin D such as taking a good amount of sunlight , egg yolks , oily fish etc.

  1. PRACTICE MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is kind of meditation which helps you to remain focused and aware of the senses, thoughts and feelings in the moment. Thus practicing mindfulness helps you increase focus and more concentration leading to good mental health .Practicing mindfulness involves Yoga, breathing practice and certain exercises that makes your body calm and relaxed.

Sleeping pattern is getting inaccurate day by day in today’s generation. It has a negative Impact on mental health of young children. Inaccurate amount and pattern of sleep tends to make the brain cells remain inactivated due to which the brain will not function properly This leads to low focus, low concentration and inactivity.

Meditation tends to help concentration and focus in children. Every parent should make there Children practice mindfulness meditation which will help them increase their focus. Meditation tends to improve brain functioning by thickening key areas of cortex thus leading to better control on emotion and high focus.

  1. LEARNING A NEW SKILL

Learning a new skill is not only for fun but is also important for increasing brain functionality in younger groups. Parents should assign their children some activities such as riding a horse, learning a new software, solving technical issues etc. This practical experience will help them learn a new skill and develop mental health.

  1. TEACH SOMEONE A NEW SKILL

After you have learned a new skill it is very important to practice it. The best way to do it is teaching the same skill to your friend or your classmates. If a student has learned a new software then he should teach the necessary steps to create a software to his classmate. By doing this he himself will get a revision of a new skill and will get permanently store in memory thus improving the mental health.

  1. MAKE A MNEMONIC

Mnemonics are the best ways to sharpen student’s brain power. A mnemonics is a word or a sentence that is used to remember a rule, name etc. Let’s take (take with a grain of salt idiom synonym) example of a mnemonics

# ARITHMETIC – A rat in the house might eat the ice cream

#DOES – Daddy only eats sandwiches

Mnemonics are very important for students as they help students to encode as well as retrieve information from a long term memory.

9 .REVISION ON PROPER INTERVALS

If a student has learned a new skill or has memorized something then he should revise it on a regular basis. On a daily basis or on a weekly basis he should revise it or teach it to someone else. By doing this his brain will retrieve that information again and again and thus will store it permanently. This will thus increase the brain functioning of the children.
