NTA (National Testing Agency) successfully conducted the JEE Main (Joint Entrance Exam) 2020 exam’s January attempt. The JEE Main exam is held as an entrance test for admission to various Engineering colleges in India including the prestigious IITs, NITs, and several other premier technology institutes.

According to our top most JEE faculty, the difficulty level of the exam was moderate. The paper comprised of three sections – Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry and was of 300 marks. Overall, the exam was moderate and most of the questions were based on NCERT textbooks.

Paper Format

The paper was conducted in two shifts; 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, in various cities across India. The JEE Main 2020 exam was conducted in CBT mode (Computer Based Test) which was completely online.

As per the feedback from students who appeared for the JEE Main January 2020 exam, the overall difficulty level was easy to moderate. Students said that the majority of questions were based on the NCERT textbooks. Physics section was of moderate level and mathematics section was moderate too, but quite lengthy. However, the chemistry section was deemed easy with questions doable within lesser amount of time. This analysis is memory based.
