JEE Main 2016 Application Form will be available from December 1, 2015 onwards. The guidelines for filling JEE Main 2016 Application Form are given on this page. Candidates can register and apply below after December 1, 2015 onwards. Last date to apply for JEE Main 2016 is December 31, 2015. Students will be given one month time (race against time phrase meaning) to fill and submit the online form by registering, uploading scanned images (of photograph, signature and left thumb impression in JPEG formats) and fee payment. Application fee payment can be done through debit/credit cards as well as through E-Challan.

JEE Main 2016 Registration:

To apply for JEE Main 2016, candidates need to register first. They need to follow below mentioned steps to apply online-


Step 1: Candidates will need to download the information bulletin and read it very carefully to ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria.

Step 2: Candidates must read all the instructions given in the information bulletin of JEE Main 2016 very carefully and keep all the information and documents ready before applying online.

Step 3: All the scanned images of a candidate’s Photograph, Signature and Left Hand Thumb impression should be kept ready in JPG format before filling in the JEE Main 2016 Application Form
Step 4: After getting equipped with all the documents, candidates should fill the JEE Main 2016 Application Form.

Step 5: After filling the application form, candidates should upload all the scanned images.

Step 6: After submitting the Application Form, candidates will have to pay the fee by Debit/Credit Card or through e-challan (which will be generated after submission of JEE Mai 2016 Application Form)

Step 7: After fee submission, candidates must download the acknowledgement slip and preserve itvery carefully for future reference.


To fill application form of JEE Main 2016, candidates have to first register by creating a password. The password must be between 8 and 13 characters, and it must contain a capital letter, a small case letter, a special character & a number.


Resetting JEE Main 2016 Password:


Following options are available to reset password of JEE Main 2016-

  • Using security question & its answer you chose during form filling
  • Using a verification code sent via text message (SMS) to your registered mobile number
  • Using a reset link sent via Email to your registered email address

In the application form, candidates need to provide following details-

  1. Exam Related Details
  2. Personal Details
  3. Academic Details
  4. Mailing Address Details
  5. Guardian Details
  6. Password
  7. Security Pin

After submitting the application form, the generated application number must be noted down as candidates will have to use it as log in ID along with the chosen password.

The name in application form must be the same as registered in class XII/qualifying examination. Confirmation page or any other documents should not be sent to JEE Main office.


Candidates must keep an email id and a valid mobile number ready. Also, they must keep the scanned copies of passport size colour photograph, signature and left thumb impression in JPEG format ready for uploading.

Specifications for uploading scanned images:

The scanned images of photograph, Signature and thumb impression should be in jpeg format only.

How to pay JEE Main 2016 Application Fees?

1.       Through Credit Card (additional charges: 1.20% of the examination fee plus service tax as applicable)



2.      Through Debit Card (additional charges: 0.75% of the examination fee plus taxes for examination fee up to Rs. 2000 and 1% + taxes for examination fee more than Rs. 2000.)



3.       Through e-Challan generated after successful submission of the online application form.

Candidates can deposit application fee in cash at any branch of Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank, HDFC and ICICI Bank.

Important: Candidates must check all details carefully before payment. Once payment of the JEE Main 2016 Fees is done, changes cannot be made.

Important Things to Remember:

  • Candidates must download the generated acknowledgement receipt (after successful submission of application form) and keep it safe.
  • They must keep a copy of DD or transaction details if fee is paid online.
  • Candidates must keep with them 8-10 identical photographs for future use till admissions. These photographs must be the same as ones that have been used in JEE Main 2016 Application Form.

JEE Main is first stage examination for admissions to prestigious IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and ISM (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad.
