Exam time (race against time phrase meaning) is stress time for students as well as their parents. In fact, many students may feel like the actual exam isn’t as scary as the days preceding it.

The taxing aura during the exam time is what causes students to let go of their health. They don’t watch what they eat or how many hours they sit without moving. These bad habits result in a tired body and mind. Plus, these habits can extend into after-exam life, thereby generally affecting a student’s health.

Below are some health tips to avoid all these problems:

1. Proper hours of sleep is mandatory:

Sleep usually is the first thing to go when students start their exam preparation. They pull all-nighters and survive on very few hours of sleep, this can deteriorate their health.

Sleeping and waking up early is the best way to go, exams or not. However, if students are used to studying at night, they should snatch a few hours of sleep before the actual exam. Too little sleep can lead to a lot of ailments and illnesses. Headaches, colds, upset stomach and general anxiety are some of them.

2. Drink enough water

Water is the key to good health. Students should keep a water bottle with them and be sure to finish it every few hours, staying hydrated is a great way to ensure maximum energy and keep the skin looking fresh throughout the exam days.

3. Eat healthy

Studying for exams can cause students to let themselves loose on their health. Instead of junk, they should keep nuts, fruits, and veggies to snack on. These would not only refresh them but also provide the much-needed boost, both physically and mentally. Students should ensure to have freshly made light food as it’s the best for them. Only a healthy body can have a healthy mind.

4. Take Breaks

Studying involves sitting down, which is something one should not do for an extended period of time. Students should get up after every hour or forty-five minutes, and move around a bit.

5. Exercise

A little exercise would make the student feel healthier, reduce the stress level and help one stay active.

If the gym is not an option, consider going for a swim or walk. Such activities are refreshing and useful than using a TV show or a movie to unwind.

6. Avoid Over-Stimulation

Avoid tea, coffee, and all energy drinks. Caffeine and sugar highs make one jittery and cause a major crash soon afterward.

Also one should try to avoid studying in bed. Either study in the library or separate your study desk from your bed. Studying in the same place as you sleep can make your brain unduly active when you’re trying to sleep.

Hence students should seek out the best ways to relax and study. Following these tips would not go waste. Rather, they would hopefully end up as a happier and healthier individual and even score better!
